It looks like those pics have been taken over several minutes, and I don't think such a mask is necessary for a long time. It looks like a mask to bring back the CO2 balance. There is nothing connected to it either, so it surely doesn't supply him with anything else than what's around him.
If he had got any problems breathing and it was anything serious, I suppose they would take him to a hospital, instead of letting him pose in front of a camera like he did with sunglasses etc. :)

I'll 'fess up too.. like JMJ, I am a bit of a night-owl... up for most of the night (but up and awake early enough too..!)
I generally check the blog before retiring to bed for the night... and this method usually means I see anything new before the email has arrived with the notification telling me so... :lol:
