I always noticed it, I noticed it when I listened to Equinoxe on CD than of LP, there is a cleaner sound on LP (as I said in the first page )
And GJ said me CD is sampled from LP

It's a question of perspective.

True, the 44.1 khz sample rate and the 16 bit resolution of the CD are obviously not enough to recreate the warm feeling of an analogue recording. But newer systems like DVD audio or SACD take that into account, offer higher sampling rates and higher bit resolution and, to my ears, sound much much better than CD.

But even with a good record player, the LP always looses in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (I'm pretty sure it's not at 90 db), dynamics (the higher the signal-to-noise ratio, the more distinct volume changes you can have) and handling (personally, I don't find the cracking noises, cherished by so many vinyl lovers, attractive at all).

My vote would be DVD audio/SACD, but that wasn't the question.

Well, putting up with the crackles an lp unavoidably generates. I realized that my collection of Jarre lp's is very much worth listening to again since I bought a Bang&Olufsen Beogram 1700 turntable with the famous mmc element in perfect condition, what a difference! Being used to play my Jarre records on my old turntable in the eighties, I was glad to be able get all the cd's late eighties/early nineties and enjoy a "cleaner" sound with better dynamics. Even after I bought a new turntable 8 years ago because I always had a lot of lp's and kept listening to them from time to time. But when I listen to these records on the Beogram again it's a wonderful world of warmth AND good dynamics. Turntables come at different prices and quality's, but the best among them can surely compete (and win in some areas) with cd's in terms of what meets the ears. For example it's a joy to listen to the Revolutions 12" on a real good turntable:-)

My cd's are remastered at 96 kHz - 24 bit. If I play them as analogical as possable thru the player and reciever they will be pretty close to the warm sound of LP's, but without the static noise of dust or scratches.
Still I haven't the same kind of bass sound from the CD's.
I agree of the new formats and Blu-ray are just around the corner.

I have every Jarre LP up to Waiting for Costeau. If I want to discover their true quality:
1. I have to buy a new player for XXXX euros.
2. I have to clean the Lp's free from dust and other shit first.

(When I was a kid I use to take apart my dads LP-player and use the drive belt as a necklace. )
