I found this posted over on SoF . I have downloaded this and it is very good quality. In terms of what we alreday have. . . . . . .

"Its my project called (the real) Cities In Concert. I acquired the Rendezvous Lyon radio broadcast from Jarre Galaxy and also the Houston one too, enchanced the sound through many sound mixers to try and "liven" up the sound quality and mixed in the audience noise taken from the official videos from Houston & Lyon, (as you couldnt hear the audience from the Lyon Radio Broadcast.)

Its a continous 1hr 15 min or so wma file, so you will have to find a way of breaking the tracks down."

Hey, hey, no need to thank me, I didn't do all the hard work of cleaning it up, that was the member over on SoF. I did the easy bit . . . . . nick the link and post it here :P :D

There are a lot of sounds, sequences and such you dont hear on other versions. Nice thing to have though.

Oxygene 5 as intro is great!

Oxygene 2 is even more, it was really powerful!

Hello!!

Just stumbled over to see what going on instead of my usual place at the Space Of Freedom over at Jarre UK. Seems a few of you have found my handywork!!

Glad you've enjoyed listening to it, i still enjoy this "Real Cities in Concert" to this day, i love listeing to Ethnicolor, Equinoxe 5, and Rendezvous 4.

I wish Jean Michel could have done something similar himself rather that giving us that bollox of a live CD called "Studios In Concert", sorry "Cities"

:muahaha: :muahaha:

In my mind I never though that he had doing that for Houston/Lyon CD...

It was a bit evident with Hong-Kong CD, but when i was listening to real Houston/Lyon files, i was on my knees !!!

I'm actually trying to make it a little bit "cleaner and punchy", but it's hardhas i don't really have prefessional restoration software. If i make something right i will tell you here.

EDIT : BTW, THANKS A LOT JON !

This is realy great. It shows just how much post-production studio work is done to the final release.

Do we know which tracks were from which concert?

It's always fun to hear these radio broadcasts. But keep in mind that they are not 100% the truth in terms of how the actual concert sounded. The live mix that goes out over the PA in a big outdoor environment changes characteristics when fed through "narrow" radio or TV channels, not to mention if the radio engineers apply some filters or compression to better fit radio speakers, which are very different from huge outdoor PA systems. The live mixes are designed to sound well at the concert venue, not on radios.

The TV broadcast of Athens 2001, as an example, is particularly poor in terms of representing the actual live sound.

Of course, JMJ is known to doctor his live albums so they sound "as they should have sounded on the night of the concert" :-)

With the exception of Concert pour la Tolerance. The live registration (tv/laserdisc) is just as it was live. They only removed the long speech before Eldorado.
