How different this is compared to recent version......
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I find this post amusing. I'm thrilled that Equinoxe V is being performed, but regarding the others... There are few shows where Rendez-Vous II and Rendez-Vous IV has not been performed. Since first being performed, I can only think of Concert for Tolerance and the two previous tours, where Rendez-Vous II has not been performed. Rendez-vous IV has, if my memory serves me right. been performed at every concert with the exception of Oxygene tour 1997. Chronologie II has been performed both in Gdansk and Marocco recently.tinmachine wrote:I would say the recent tour is lot better as it doesn't contain Oxygene 7 and Oxygene 8, and instead we get classics like Equinoxe 5, Rendez-Vous 4, Rendez-Vous 2 and Chronologie 2!
But yes, the old 1997 Oxygene 5 is better!
I'm glad you find my post amusing, but I was actually being serious! Up until his recent tour, Oxygene 7-13 tended to over-dominate his set lists, and quite frankly myself and possibly the public at large think the album is one of his less decent albums. In my opinion Oxygene 12 is probably the only worthwhile inclusion in a set list as it has a cool video to go along with it. I also happen to think that Equinoxe 5, RV 2 and RV4 are more worthwhile inclusions for an enjoyable uplifting concert than say Oxygene 7 or Oxygene 8 which may be of appeal to a hard core section of JMJ fans but few others. If I was to try and get a complete stranger to like JMJ, I'd play him Oxygene 4, Equinoxe 5, RV 2, RV 4 but I'd hide my CD of Oxygene 7-13 away (along with a few other ones too! lol)marc_young wrote:Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I find this post amusing. Since the second leg of the oxygene tour, Oxygene VII has only been performed at the sunrise concert in Giza and in Marocco. At the last two dates, the song was altered very much from the original version. So, if we are going to look on classic songs, Oxygene VII is much overdue for a new performance.
Still, as I said, I was thrilled at hearing all those songs (With the sole exception of Rendez-Vous IV which had not yet been added to the list) when I attended the show in Göteborg last year.
Yes I agree... But they are less on stage than in 1997. 4 versus 5.Robi wrote:(...) just say that JMJ might give more role for the partners, in this piece.
There are parts of this that I agree with, and parts that I don't. Regarding Oxygene 7-13, I can't agree that the album was over-dominating his setlist. With the exception of Oxygene VIII and XII none of the tracks has been performed much during the last couple of years. I believe Oxygene XIII was last being performed in China. Oxygene X hasn't been performed since the millenium concert in Giza and Oxygene XI has not been heard since the second part of the Oxygene 7-13 tour.tinmachine wrote:I'm glad you find my post amusing, but I was actually being serious! I would actually like JMJ to drop Oxygene 5 and Variations 3 from the set list, and replace it with Chronologie 4 and maybe Zoolookologie (or Ethnicolor/Zoolookologie
like at PLD).
