He said he used a 8-Track tape recorder for it... but how exactly?
Is it possible to connect a tape recorder to a synthesizer?

As Jarre himself said for those who don't know how it have been record, he use the "overdubbing" method ; he use 8 track previously record, then record again on an 8 -track with the previously recorded 8 track....so he was able to make many track as possible (the only limitation is the artefact and noise due to the tape).

It's like if you have a simple tape recorder and you mix 2 input source ; 1 with a 8 track song, the other with your 2 poor hand playing on a synth (it's basically the same)

You have to keep in mind one thing : for Oxygene and Equinoxe, overdub + cutting pasting tape, is the primary way Jean-Michel work. Since digital era comes....
