Dreyfus' new vinyl releases

I just listened to the new vinyl release of Equinoxe. It sounds good, but I'm not impressed.

Even worse: there is a drop-out at the end of Equinoxe 7.

I did not listen to the others yet..

All labels just look like the early releases. The Oxygene LP has the purple Motors label :-)

By the way: I've checked the prices and at the moment the best price is offered at the webshop of Disques Dreyfus!

Wait, the new Vinyl releases are already in stores..? Gotta check the Fame Store in Amsterdam Central in that case, they have tons of vinyl, hopefully also these two... Just wondering how they sound myself, I have very low expectations of the re-releases seeing how godawfull the Essentials & Rarities remastering was :|

How does the E&R vinyl sound? Sometimes the vinyl versions of albums have different mastering.

I've got heavy vinyl copies of Oxy and Equi that sound amazing.

Rarities sounds the same as the CD. It does not sound sparkling bright with deep basses. It just sounds dull and digital.

BTW: The vinyl release consists of 'R' only, not 'E'. :)

I order them at Disques Dreyfus. It's cheap there, and they ship fast.

The quality of the vinyl is not that good. The only good thing is: it's 180gram vinyl. The vinyl
looks damaged, dirty and dusty. There is no anti static bag but the records are kept in a paper bag, with the exception of the Magnetic Fields record which comes in the cardboard jacket. I carefully took that record out, but it already had scratches all over the place....from the hard, rough cardbox.

Conclusions:

It's nice to have in the collection and the records are not that expensive (when you order directly from Dreyfus). You have to remove or at least open the shrink wrap from these records to keep the sleeves in good condition. It is the kind of shrink wrap that.....shrinks (after a couple of years), and bends the sleeve.

When you want to listen to JMJ on vinyl, just stick with the Japanese pressings.

Yeah that's what I thought would happen with the new Vinyl releases, godawfull remasters just like the CD... To bad also about not having decend packaging for the record :|

Aww well... I always have my pristine condition vinyl records from Japan :nod:

That sounds horrible!!! :shock: I love my records, but reading that MF had scratches already, makes my heart aching. :( :( :(

For some reason they don't include proper inner sleeves anymore. On the other hand, they are only about 15 euro's each, so it's not a big deal to spend another 50 cents for an anti-static inner sleeve yourself.

Huh? There's totally different songs on Rarities compared to Musik Aus Zeit Und Raum and both Essentials.

True-ish but there's only 3 tracks on this LP that aren't on the other Best of LP's, and I already have those on vinyl.

1. Souvenir of China
6. Calypso 2
7. Zoolook

Great tracks but nothing to really tempt a purchase.
