Good day one and all. This will be my first post and I'd like to start with a story from 1988. I was living in Dagenham at the time, 17 years old and already a big Jarre fan. I heard about the potenial for a concert in the Daily Mirror the headline Rock around the dock. The article estimated 2m people would attend but as we know Newham council had other ideas. At last Jarre was bcoming a houshold name in the UK, lots of tv interviews and articles in the paper. And people were talkimg about this mad French guy with the laser harp. I attended the 2nd council meeting that would decide if the conncert would go ahead, you may have seen me in the making of Docklands video, im the the one with the Equinox leather jacket. That night I met with Jarre and Charlotte Rampling and was asked back to a party at the docklands headquarters, for some unknown reason I didn't go!! I'll never forget the concert night, the countdown, the rain and wind. After that a lot of the concert is a blur, small memories of the amazing fireworks, the building made to look as if it was on fire, the retro 60s images on the buildings, the atrocious weather, amazing atmosphere and it was all over, what I do remember will stay with me to the day I die. I kept loads of newspaper cuttings from the time but they have been lost in the mists of time along with the jacket and other memorabilia. I still listen to jarre. He's lost his way a bit over the years but stil makes some great music, GOL and Meta amongst them. I also attended PLD biut thats for another day.
