Kosinski O2 so-so, not bad, but this O4... I agree, absolutely terrible crap. JMJ (semi) surprisingly with untalented company, and another wasted track. Even the Vertigo "version" is miles better.

I heard this remix a couple of years ago & I think it is horrible.
I really do not like these Oxygene 4 remixes that do away with the triplet rythmn, for me Oxygene 4 does not work with a 4/4 time signature.
However the remix of Oxygene 2 is not bad, I think JMJ's version will be better than the 9 minute version.
And now to find out what remix of Equinoxe he is going to play, my money is on one of the Equinoxe 4 dance remixes.
I really hope he boots out Exit, I'd rather hear an Equinoxe 4 dance remix than that.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, I can excuse O2 for ditching triplets, but not both, and especially not O4, as the melody heavily relies on syncopation which is now lost (TBH the entire melody is lost, buried in the buzzing trance saw arps). I get it - it should be more EDM-y or whatever, because it's a "NYE party", but EDM tracks with triplet-based rhythm DO EXIST.

I'm really torn whether I'd prefer Exit or a bastardized version of Eq4 or Eq7

There's a new trailer on the official FB page, containing the new Oxygene 4. As predicted from that short 1 sec rehearsal snippet it's pretty terrible. The main melody is almost lost. I like the new O2, but this is really meh.

This really is a rather horrible version of Oxy4.

Surely you or some others from this forum can make a brilliant inventive cover of Oxy4 for JmJ to adopt.

Thhedk Equinoxe7 cover is brilliant except for drums percussion : remove drums percussion.



This is also a mis step with original Equinoxe7 it did NOT require drums percussion
similarly original Eq4 Eq5 did NOT require drums percussion the tracks are already rythmic
yet unnecessary drums percussion.

Kosinski's version of Oxygene part 2

It was already posted in this thread. The version that will be played on WTTOS is different (it's clearly audible, there's eminent and mellotron, which Kosinski's raw remix doesn't have). It's a "JMJ rework of Kosinski Remix" - that's what Shazam returns. Also in this thread a couple of posts back https://zoolook.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?p=206723#p206723

TBH I wouldn't expect the setlist to be much different from his last VR endeavor.

I know.... and that's what worries me! To take the same beats-heavy EDM track list and drop it straight into the actual Notre Dame would be really careless. I really hope it's a bespoke track list, with variations appropriate to the setting.

JmJ somewhat lacks judgement as to what to play in specific locations.

Eg playing Brick England in Dead Sea Masada was so dumb utterly irrelevant to Masada.

I managed to get through to JmJ to drop Brick England for future concerts which he did.

I wouldn't have any problem with Brick England in central Europe if I wold have attended the Electronica tour concert.

Since the song is called Brick England and Pet Shop Boys is a very British band, I absolutely understand the sentiment of the song being very European or British.

However, as with most of Neil Tennant's lyrics, and this is coming from someone who hardly pays attention to lyrics, they mean a lot more than that you get on first hearing. The song at first hearing is indeed about England, and urban landscapes (which when I think about it now is something JMJ himself has been focusing on with his Cities-in-Concert-Concerts). But it is also about the demolishing of old buildings and therefore the loss of cultural or architectural heritage which is something that is happening in every city and every nation (from lake Geneva to the Finland station), especially when it comes to Notre Dame. And singing about knocking walls down might be... a bit controversial in some countries.

But maybe I'm reading too much into it and this is off-topic anyway And yeah when I think of it, singing about Brick England in the Notre Dame does sound off...

Hmm, if the final live version of Oxygene 4 ends up being too weird, might have to replace it with the best version (PLD, of course ) in the ensuing post-concert .MP4 file.

My suggestion to JmJ was firstly replace the word England with the location of the concert.

(Many peoples won't look into the meaning of lyrics
they just hear England then think wtf has this to do with my town my area).

Or Secondly remove Brick England if the first wasn't feasible.
