5 Of The Highest Attended Concerts In Texas History

1. Jean-Michel Jarre (April 5, 1986): The biggest concert ever held in Texas, and one of the biggest held in the WORLD, happened at Rendez-Vous Houston in 1986. 1.3 MILLION people attended this historic concert by the French composer. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it was the largest crowd to ever attend a sound & light display.

Many special occasions happened that night: it was the 150th anniversary of the city of Houston & the 25th anniversary of NASA. It was also just 2 months after the Challenger explosion. It was certainly a huge occasion of everyone: Jean, for the city of Houston, for America & for the world.

The number of Guiness Book of Record entries is one of the best known JMJ concert facts. Place de La Concorde 1979, Houston 1986, Paris La Defence 1990 and then Moscow 1997.

But does anybody out there have copies of the actual entries in the published books? Scans of the pages? I assume the copies of the books were 1980, 1987, 1991 and 1998 (one year after each of the concerts). Are copies of the books online? I recall seeing Paris La Défense at one time, illustrated with a full-page photo of the pyramid stage, if I'm right. I'm curious how the other concerts were presented to readers.
