Award-winning Taiwanese artist Hsin-Chien Huang has become a regular in the virtual reality programme of L.E.V., which has on multiple occasions shown his highly experimental, imaginative and aesthetic works. On this occasion, Hsin-Chien Huang will be accompanied by the renowned electronic musician and composer Jean Michel Jarre to present The Eye and I, a collaborative virtual reality piece in which they explore from a critical prism their fascination with the notion of social surveillance, as well as its influence and presence throughout history.
With this project they invite us to travel through the evolution of surveillance from religious supervision to today’s omnipresence and digital control. Through twelve cells located in the panopticon of a prison, visitors can explore the influence of surveillance on art, family, politics, social organisation and technology. Jean Michel Jarre’s unique musical composition enhances the immersive experience, creating a unique work that stimulates the mind and senses in equal measure.
