The ticket sale page reads "Konsertissa nähdään myös saksalainen elektronisen musiikin klassikkoyhtye Tangerine Dream, joka saapuu esiintymään konserttiin osana Tangerine Dream - Continuum -kiertuettaan" which means that TD @ JMJ's concert is counted as a part of their Continuum tour, so even if their performance is shorter than a full-on TD concert, it's still counted as a part of their tour.

(i.e. that date'll probably appear on a tour shirt ;))

Exactly the same way blatantly taking "Moon Machine" from "Images" was advertised as "recording a brand new track" for the 40th Anniversary of Zoolook. Don't read too much into it, it's just marketing + ignorance.

I never understood is this going to be outdoors ? If yes, then where exactly? Next to the IceHall is just a parking spot area. Are they going to convert it for the festival? I've never heard of Nordis. What the hell is that?

Nordis is the nickname for the Helsinki Ice hall, which is located at Nordenskiöldinkatu 11–13.

It's been announced by the organizer that this will indeed be an outdoors concert (unlike the Electronica tour concert in 2016 which took place inside the Ice Hall). As someone who lives in Helsinki, I'm also puzzled by this. The two-day Helsinki City Festival prior to the concert will take place at the Bolt Arena (a football stadium with roughly one third of the capacity of the Helsinki Olympic Stadium) and the nearby football field (called Töölön pallokenttä) behind the Ice Hall. I'm guessing it'll be either one since the infrastructure will be already there, but that remains to be seen.

Thanks for the clarification. I live here too, but honestly I am not a fan of festivals where you have to stand outside. Sadly going to skip this one.

Jean Michel and Tangerine Dream will NOT be performing together in Helsinki. Each of them will play a separate concert of nearly two hours length there. That's what Bianca Froese-Acquaye and Thorsten Quaeschning told me tonight at the opening of the Tangerine Dream exhibition "Zeitraffer" in Frankfurt. It seems there were plans for a joint appearance, but obviously it was too difficult to put all the equipment of both acts onto the same stage.

Sheesh, no mention of that change on the ticket sale site, which still says that TD will be making a guest appearance.

Not going myself, but hopefully those who bought tickets just for that guest appearance will get a refund if they choose to apply for them :P

Well, not even Thorsten was sure if they would would perform together or not. He just knew about TD doing a 2 hour concert and JMJ doing a 2 hour concert, too. But Bianca definitely said, there won't be a joint performance there.

Looks like there's a small update on the schedule:

16:00 doors open
16:30-17:30 Rinne Radio
18:00-20:00 Tangerine Dream
20:30-22:00 Jean-Michel Jarre

According to an interview in a local paper, the concert will take place on the Ice Hall parking lot. Sigh :(

Another thing that worries me is the abundance of light (the sun will set at 10:50pm) and it's effect on the laser show and projections. How many JMJ concerts have taken place in broad daylight?
