After Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Belém (during COP 30), next stop of Amazonia Expo in Brazil, will be Vitória, capital of the Espirito Santo State.
On April 2nd, another Brazilian leg of photographer Sebastião Salgado's "Amazonia" exhibition will open. This time, the exhibition will be in the city of Vitória, capital of Espírito Santo.
"Amazonia" is the result of seven years of work by Sebastião Salgado exploring the forest, its communities and villages. The result of this encounter is in this exhibition, which brings together more than 200 photographs of landscapes, ways of life and the presence of indigenous peoples, reinforcing the urgency of caring for our territory, the Amazon, and also those who care for it. The soundtrack with sounds of the forest that accompanies visitors was composed by Jean-Michel Jarre and released on an album of the same name in 2021.
The first phase of the Cais das Artes project, the “Praça do Cais,” was completed at the end of January. Located in Enseada do Suá, Vitória, the space is a cultural complex integrating a museum, public square, and theater. With a total area of 30,000 square meters, the space aims to be a center for art, education, and community interaction, accessible to all audiences, connecting the city to cultural networks in Brazil and the world . The project is being carried out and managed by the Department of Buildings and Highways of Espírito Santo (DER-ES), the state agency responsible for its management and execution.
After three postponements, Governor Renato Casagrande announced on March 21st that the museum's inauguration will take place on April 2nd. It had initially been scheduled for December 2025, then January, March, and finally, next month. The third phase, which includes the theater, is scheduled for completion only in December.
The exhibition has already been seen by over 1 million people and has been shown in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Belém, as well as other cities around the world. On opening day (April 2nd), visiting hours will be from 10 am to 8 pm (last entry at 7:30 pm – tickets available on site, subject to capacity). On subsequent days, hours will be from 10 am to 6 pm (last entry at 5 pm), Thursday to Sunday. Admission is free, but to control the number of visitors, it will be necessary to obtain tickets via a link that will be released soon.
