Hi everybody,
it's now 25 years ago since (my opinion) THE milestone in Jarre's career
RENDEZ-VOUS HOUSTON - A CITY IN CONCERT
it would be great if Jean Michel, his management or anybody else could
arrange the original TV-broadcast from 1986 to be played in the web or TV in new technologies (if possible in HD).

Broadcasting it in HD is not possible... Well techicly they can broadcast it in HD, but the concert was record on VHS, even if they upscaled it, the quality wouldn't become any better... I wouldn't mind it if they would re-release it on Blu-ray and remastered, even if the quality can't be just as good as with a concert that would have been recorded on actual film...
Makes me wonder why they never filmed any concert's on film rather then VHS/HD... Those concert's are now stuck to the crappy VHS quality and the decend HD quality, they can never re-release these movie and make it look much better. To bad if you ask me, although the concert's are great fun to watch on VHS, give's it a vintage feeling

Agree, it's very sad, because if it was on film, they could scan the old film and get HD or even 4K out of it.
But the old NTSC recordings are forever low and grumsy quality :(

In Denmark they just released a series of 14 danish movies from 1968 and forward on BluRay. The original negatives were scanned, colorgraded and fine tuned by professional photographers - it looks SO good!

I clipped a little car chase together from 1969 here:

It's been almost 40 years since the Houston concert and JMJ has been posting some Houston related videos on his social media. I wouldn't get my hopes up, he posted a countdown from Europe in Concert a few years ago, but still...

Same Here! My thought was for a moment do we get a full release of the Houston show. But I don’t expect something for this anniversary. Or maybe Jarre will surprise us

I wish there would be stuff released for Rendez-vous 40th Anniversary because its my favourite Jarre album and concert, Rendez-vous 4 is my favourite Jarre track, the houston concert was the first time I seen Jean-Michel, on T.V in Scotland in 1986, i'm sure the 50 min edit of the houston concert was shown on New Years Eve 1986, I was 7 years old, I was mesmerised by the music and light show and have been a fan ever since then.
Concerts Attended:

With the amount of posts he's making right now about the concert and the fact that he did it for Zoolook, I have a feeling that he might be getting ready to announce a 40th anniversary edition of "In Concert: Houston / Lyon", or maybe even a brand new "Rendez-Vous: Houston" album that features the full length concert on it.

I'm definitely getting my hopes up, but an album with the full Houston concert on it would 100% rock for the anniversary! :)

I also thought that last year with Posts from Chronologie and Europe
In concert but nothing happened. So I have low expectations

Happy 40th anniversary Rendez-Vous Houston! :D

Jarre's just released this video on his channel, nothing significant and it might just be a Europe in Concert situation that was mentioned earlier. Seems to be the 2017 video re-edited to be shorter:

Anybody else thinking the quality of the Houston concert visuals in these recent social media clips is looking much better? Has there been a "best efforts" clean up of the original grainy VHS footage ready for an official re-release?

I know in the past poor quality was cited as a reason not to re-release but remember JMJ went ahead with the Bratislava box set, despite quality issues, even going as far a putting a statement about the poor quality on the sleeve notes.

We can but hope! 🤞

I remember those same better quality videos were posted years ago, in 2018 when JMJ was in the USA Tour.
