Oxygene 2 and 4 Use the same pattern,Oxygene 6 uses another one,so in essence there is only 2 Patterns used.
One method for having 2 MPs could be to save changing the Pattern selection during the performance He could have used one MP7 For part Oxygene 2/4 and the Other for Part 6!!!without the need to have to manually select the patterns/tempo.
You can trigger the MP7 from a footswitch,so in this case,Jarre could set the MP7's up prior to the performance and not have to detract from playing with your hands to trigger them.
Would make sense to have 2 mp7s for that purpose if he played the album all the way through
Does anyone have any higher res close ups of the MP7's,you'd be able to tell if thats why he needed 2,as they more than likely will have different pattern selections pushed in if thats the case
Just as an afterthought,Jarre took advantage of the ability to depress 2 patterns at once on some tracks, maybe he had one mp7 playing one pattern and the other playing the other one,so they played in combination, but still on seperate machines, again if you listen to the album some sounds are phasered,(Oxygene 2)so he could have had 2 machines synced but outputted to seperate Mixer channels that way he could add the wet phaser signal to certain sounds without affecting the whole Loop
