Some time ago on the Polish forum we were wondering about one dedication during the Shiyard Cocert. As you know one of the tracks dedicated to John Paul II was "Rendez-Vous 2"...we were thinking why had he chosen this song and one of the users noticed quite interesting fact.
During the "Show Pour Hans Christian Andersen" Jean Michel also played "Rendez-Vous 2". And it took place on 2nd April, some minutes after 21.00 (I think it was about 21.15), so the time the Pope was dying...

I'm interested, if JMJ had awareness about this or if it was just fascinating coincidence...

Could very well be the reason why he dedicated it to John Paul II at the Shipyard Concert. :)

Both the Lyon and Houston concerts were the occasion for the promotion of JMJ's latest album, which was at the time Rendez-Vous. Also, the style of the track is quite 'classical' and could easily fit a rather religious theme, much more than any other track... :)

The pope dying at the same time of the HCA performance is just a coincidence I think.

I think he meant it was renamed only for that night, and then he was improvising and didn't think about putting "tonight it is called" before the name.
The lists you find on the net are probably made by other people with the same understanding that it was called 'Solidarnosc Tonight' :)
